Welcome to Room 15! Our class blog is being created so watch this space...
We love Middle Syndicate Science - Marshmallow catapults! Yum....
|Room 15 has been busy collecting junk food wrappers so we can weave our Parawai Kakahu. We went for a walk up the Booms to have a look at "Our Place". After looking at the features we came back to school and designed our "cloak". Collecting all the plastic rubbish at our school helps look after our environment. Watch this space to see our fantastic creation!|
We have been developing our charcterisation skills by using adjectives and precise verbs to add interest and detail to our writing. We had a challenge to choose at least four words such as
violent, caring, selfish , brave, jealous
grumpy, fair, sour, funny, magical
and use them in at least four sentences, and if we can make the sentences based on the same idea!
We love challenges ....
The Grumpy Man
A selfish man had a bad day yesterday. When he woke up that day he was grumpy. So he got dressed and all of that stuff.
So he decided to go for a Sunday drive. He got in his car and he tried to start his car. It had run out of petrol. He yelled at his car and that left a sour taste in his mouth.
So he had a Sunday walk instead. When he was walking everyone said "hi" to him. So from that moment on he decided to be a fair and funny man.
The Water Fight
Josh’s water balloon came flying towards me. Bam! Strike! It got me. It was on! I ran to the tap across the pointy stones. How brave! Then within of a blink of an eye my magical powers came to me.
As I watched silently, the water bomb dropped slowly from the balcony. Then the silence was ruined by a big splash! Darn - it missed by an inch. I was so jealous I missed and he hadn’t!
My magical powers then turned around to the mean side. Bam! Got him right on the head… bull’s eye - but that’s not the end of it…
We have been having fun with Fractions - learning about improper fractions and the addition of fractions with a common denominator. We have been designing "new" ways to help us learn...
Have a look at some of the challenges we came up with..... (Our class photographers are getting better every day with their photos!)
How many "whole"parts make up our "Fraction man" and "Fraction cat"?
What fraction of our "girl" is made up of white sticks? (Remember - the size of the fractional amount depends on the size of the whole!)
