Parawai School - Past, Present, Future

Pārāwai - Past Present Future

Pārāwai School was opened in 1967. Since those very small beginnings, we have grown in size to our current total of 290 students and 12 classrooms. As our students numbers grew, we not only needed additional buildings but more outdoor space for sports and recreation, so in 2004 we developed a large area to the west of the school to create our ‘new field’.

Over the years as the school has grown, we have made many additions to our grounds and buildings to enhance the learning environment and educational opportunities for our students.

Future building and property plans include:

• Extension of our school gardens to include orchards and vegetable gardens

• Beautification of school entrance way, grounds and gardens

• A carved maihi entranceway to our school hall created by local iwi and a group of our
  Yr 7 and 8 boys

• Murals, created by the students, to enhance the school buildings
